Nelson Residence hall

The Nelson Residence Hall is designed to encourage the development of the University’s Living and Learning Communities concept. The University has five such communities, each built around a different theme to attract students with common interests.

The project consists of a five-story building above two levels of below grade parking. The architectural style and construction quality are in keeping with the other buildings of the campus. Built of red brick and copper roof, Nelson Hall is distinguished by its 30-foot spire built of steel and bright copper cladding and the interior courtyard open to the sky.

It is constructed of a concrete structure frame, concrete floors, exterior walls of brick masonry with limestone accents, and copper roofs over steel framing.

Designed in collaboration with the DU Campus Architect.
