Odyssey Charter School - Master plan and concept design

The Odyssey School, a Denver Public Schools K-8 Charter School, is designed around rigorous, project-based learning expeditions, including regular out-of-school fieldwork and adventures with environmental education.

Working closely with teachers and parents, BWG envisioned a facility that breaks free of traditional school models, as well as providing an environment more conducive to curiosity, self-discovery, and achievement — equally valuing the built and natural environment. To further align with the school’s philosophy of “everything they do supports the learning process”, the driving force of the design of each space was “every square inch of floor, wall and ceiling shall have an educational purpose”.
